YWCA Missoula Awarded HUD Grant for Rapid Rehousing Program

February 28, 2024

YWCA Missoula has been awarded a $359,418 grant for our Rapid Rehousing Program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and in partnership with the Montana Continuum of Care Coalition. This grant allows us to continue to support families and domestic violence survivors experiencing homelessness in finding permanent housing solutions.

At YWCA Missoula, we believe in the Housing First approach, recognizing that each family’s experience of homelessness is unique and that every unhoused family deserves a safe and appropriate place to call home. Our Rapid Rehousing Program reflects this belief by prioritizing permanent housing as a foundation for personal growth and stability.

Through short- and medium-term rental assistance, including deposit payments and ongoing rental subsidies, Rapid Rehousing aims to help unhoused families quickly transition into permanent housing. We also work closely with each participant to identify their specific needs and connect them with community resources, ranging from mental health care to employment assistance.

In collaboration with the Missoula Coordinated Entry System, we strive to streamline the placement process and prioritize those in urgent need of housing. However, with limited available units in Missoula and a growing population of unsheltered families, the need for programs like Rapid Rehousing has never been greater.

With this grant, we are confident in our ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of houseless families and survivors of domestic violence in our community. Together, we can work towards a future where every individual has safe housing.
