Missoula Gives: Make a Difference and Support Missoula Kids

April 29, 2024

Join us for Missoula Gives, an annual community event dedicated to giving back, on May 2nd and 3rd! This year, YWCA Missoula is rallying support for our vital programs for children.

Every night, The Meadowlark is home to 50-80 children. These Missoula kids have experienced homelessness and/or domestic violence, and as a result, many of them have complex needs. With your help, we can reduce the impacts of trauma and set children up for brighter futures. Although families stay at The Meadowlark only temporarily, your donation will fund services that can change the course of their young lives.

Here’s how your donation to the Youth Services program will be put to work:

  1. Support Groups: Children who have witnessed or experienced domestic violence often struggle with feelings of isolation and fear. Support groups provide a safe space for them to express themselves, share their experiences, and receive guidance from trained professionals.
  2. Therapeutic Play Activities: Play is not just about fun; it’s a crucial tool for healing and growth. Through therapeutic play activities, children can explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build important social-emotional skills that will serve them well into adulthood.
  3. Seasonal Events and Holiday Celebrations: Transitioning out of houselessness or domestic violence can be tumultuous for families, especially during holidays and special occasions. Seasonal events and celebrations bring joy and consistency to their lives, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  4. Enriching Child Supervision: Infants and toddlers require attentive care and nurturing to support their development. Your donation will ensure that these youngest members of The Meadowlark community receive the quality supervision they deserve, setting them on the right path from the very beginning.
  5. Leadership Development: For older children and teens, our GUTS! program offers after school groups and summer camps. Your donation is an investment in the kids of our community, providing them with the skills and resources they need to succeed and empowering them to become confident, capable leaders in their own right.
